現在、UNIX 内の環境で、あちこちのホストに色々なログイン名で入っている。色々と問題が多いのだが、全然直す気が無いので諦める以外に無い。大勢で幾つかのアカウントを共有していたりするので、勝手に設定などを書き換えるわけにもいかず、ターミナルの所属するユーザ名とホストで混乱を起こしている。

今まで、プロンプトは変えてもあまり意味ので、変えたことは無かったが、今回は流石に無理だった。bash を使っているので、ログインするたびに

$ export PS1='\u@\H$ '

を実行する事にした。

man bash を見ると、

              \a     an ASCII bell character (07)
              \d     the  date  in "Weekday Month Date" format (e.g., "Tue May
                     26")

                     the format is passed to strftime(3)  and  the  result  is
                     inserted  into the prompt string; an empty format results

がある。昔々にプロンプトの変更を試そうと思ったときに見たとき以来だ。こんなの覚えられないと思って、メモ変わりにブログに書いたのだが、一日に五回も十回も同じコマンドを打つと一日で覚えてしまうようだ。
